The Battle Ground Academy Wildcats advanced out of the first round of the playoffs behind a defense that never let up. In the middle of it all was sophomore defensive tackle Ayden Woodruff (#77). His presence at the point of attack set the tone early, and his motor kept the pressure on for four quarters. For a Class of 2028 lineman, his maturity and discipline are impressive. After the win in Franklin, we caught up with him for an exclusive post-game interview that you can watch below.

Ayden Woodruff Stat Report

Size and frame matter in the trenches, and Woodruff has both with functional strength to match. At roughly 6’5 and 265 lbs, he uses length to lock out, plays with solid pad level, and shows a quick first strike with his hands. The production backs it up. Through 10 games this season, he is credited with 33 total tackles (20 solo) and 4.0 sacks, averaging 3.3 tackles per game and 0.4 sacks per game.

  • Oct 30 vs Grace Christian — 3 tackles, 1 sack (W 35–0)
  • Oct 17 vs Pope Prep — 1 tackle, 1 sack (W 56–14)
  • Oct 9 vs Chattanooga Prep — 3 tackles, 1 sack (W 44–0)

Those numbers highlight how disruptive he’s been week after week — especially against playoff-caliber opponents who game-plan around him.

Woodruff’s upside hasn’t gone unnoticed. He earned a spot on the All-615 Preps Preseason Team at defensive line — one of only a few sophomores to earn that recognition. His growth and discipline have also drawn early recruiting buzz, including Power 5 attention from programs like Tennessee and Ohio State. You can view his verified season stats on MaxPreps.
