Tuesday Talent Week 7 picks across Tennessee high school basketball. Aaliyah Dixon #4 —Ezell-Harding Christian
Tuesday Talent is where we tap in on the hoopers who are setting the pace across Tennessee. These are the players putting pressure on the rim, tilting possessions with defense, and stacking production that forces people to pay attention. This week’s crew picks bring a strong mix: two-way wings, high-motor guards, rim protection, and a couple names who are quietly turning into weekly problems.
Spotlight Players
Coach Daniel’s Spotlight: Millie Maddox — Franklin Road Academy (Girls)
Millie Maddox is the type of player who shows up on film before she shows up in the stat sheet, and that matters. Her clips are loaded with defensive plays that flip momentum, built around steals, pressure, and turning stops into fast-break chances. That “creates offense with defense” identity fits exactly what strong programs value, and it’s part of why she’s been a steady varsity presence through multiple seasons in the Franklin Road Academy system.
The other key detail is she’s also tied to STARS Gold 2027 on the club circuit, which is real exposure. That combination of varsity reps and AAU visibility gives her a clean runway to keep building her profile as the season rolls forward.
Triple Threat D’s Spotlight: Cara Lee Gilbert — Cookeville (Girls)
Cara Lee Gilbert is a certified go-to guard, and the numbers back it up. She’s producing 17.4 points per game, shooting 36% from three, and living at the stripe at 85% free throws. That’s the profile of a scorer who can beat you multiple ways, especially late in games when possessions tighten up.
She capped it with the biggest box checked: Cara signed to Cumberland University. That’s not projection, that’s validation. Production plus college ink. She’s leaving high school as a proven scorer with a clear next-level destination.
Tray’s Spotlight: Layla Hall — Blackman (Girls)
Layla Hall is one of those young guards who doesn’t play like a “future,” she plays like a present-tense problem. As a sophomore, she’s already leading Blackman in scoring (13.7 PPG) and rebounding (5.7 RPG), which tells you everything you need to know about her impact on possessions.
Guards who rebound like that change the game. They end defensive possessions, start transition, and create extra shots without needing a play called for them. Add in her length and versatility, and she becomes the kind of matchup that coaches hate planning for.
JG’s Spotlight: Hamza Rawe — STEM Preparatory Academy (Boys)
Hamza Rawe is bringing something every team needs and not enough teams have: rim protection that shows up on paper. He’s averaging 3.0 blocks per game and is number one in his district in blocks. That’s an identity, not a random stat. It means you can’t just stroll into the lane and finish, you have to account for him.
He’s also giving STEM solid two-way contributions, including a verified double-double example of 13 points and 11 rebounds in a win. Hamza’s value is clear: protect the rim, clean the glass, and make the paint a no-fly zone.
Underrated Players
Coach Daniel’s Underrated: Dallas Pauldo — Rockvale (Boys)
Dallas Pauldo brings the type of interior toughness that shows up when the game gets physical. At 6’4” and 250, he’s built for the frontcourt grind: anchoring space, battling on the glass, and making finishing attempts in traffic harder than they want to be.
Even when the full stat totals aren’t always easy to pull cleanly, the role is obvious. He’s a varsity rotation big who impacts possessions inside and has already earned “Player of the Game” recognition in at least one matchup. He also has a multi-sport athletic profile in the background, which often translates to toughness, contact balance, and competitive edge.
Triple Threat D’s Underrated: Osby Cavin — Pope John Paul II (Boys)
Osby Cavin is the kind of guard who can play multiple roles and still hurt you. He’s producing 17.3 points per game, nearly 5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists, while also contributing defensively with 1.9 steals. That’s a full-box-score guard profile.
He’s also proven he can explode when the moment calls for it, with verified takeover nights like 33 points and 34 points in big wins. That’s why he’s underrated: he’s not just “a scorer.” He’s a two-way guard who can swing a game with pace, shot-making, and pressure defense.
Tray’s Underrated: Aaliyah Dixon — Ezell-Harding (Girls)
Aaliyah Dixon is an early varsity contributor, and being a freshman doing real work for a winning program is a different kind of stamp. She’s already had featured scoring nights, including a 22-point game in a win, and the combination of size and position flexibility gives her real long-term ceiling.
What separates her is she’s not just “on the roster.” She’s contributing in meaningful situations, and she has confirmed club exposure with B. Maze Elite. Freshman production plus AAU visibility equals a player whose name is going to keep showing up.
JG’s Underrated: Zerahiah Polk — Knowledge Academies (Girls)
Zerahiah Polk is putting up numbers that you don’t see every day, especially for a sophomore wing. She’s averaging 14.5 points and an elite 11.7 rebounds per game, plus 3.0 steals and 1.1 blocks. That’s not one-lane production, that’s a player affecting the game everywhere.
When a wing is controlling the glass like a post player and still scoring like a primary option, that’s impact you can build around. Polk is a true under-the-radar force whose game is already translating into weekly production.
