Tennessee high school football players made their mark across the state in Week 1 of the 2026 season, and Triple Threat Sportscast’s Tuesday Talent is back to spotlight four who caught our attention.

For Season 2, every selection counts.

Each member of the Triple Threat Sportscast crew gets one player to spotlight each week.

One player. One selection. One TTS stamp.

For Week 1, Coach Daniel, JG, Triple Threat D and Tray each selected one player who caught their attention on the field.

Some are already established names.

Others are only beginning their high school football careers.

But all four gave the TTS crew a reason to take notice.

Coach Daniel’s Pick: Levi Scott III — McCallie

WR | Class of 2029

Built for the Moment

Levi Scott III isn’t waiting until he’s an upperclassman to make his presence felt.

The McCallie sophomore produced 491 receiving yards and 76 rushing yards as a freshman, showing early that he could make an impact against varsity competition.

Now he’s entering his sophomore season with another opportunity to take the next step.

For Coach Daniel, this selection also carries a personal connection.

Daniel has known Levi’s father through Tennessee’s youth football community and has seen the football foundation surrounding Levi long before he reached the varsity stage.

Travel football.

Competition.

Repetition.

Those experiences helped prepare him for Friday nights.

And he’s still only a sophomore.

JG’s Pick: Darius Weaver — Ensworth

WR/CB | Class of 2030

The Freshman Isn’t Waiting

Freshman?

Yes.

Varsity contributor?

Already.

Darius Weaver entered Ensworth as a Class of 2030 prospect and wasted little time making an impact.

Against Whitehaven, Weaver caught Ensworth’s first touchdown of the season while also contributing on the defensive side of the football.

His athleticism extends beyond the gridiron.

Weaver has already displayed impressive track-and-field ability, including a 22.05-second 200 meters and a 19-foot, 9.75-inch long jump as an eighth-grader.

Speed.

Explosion.

Versatility.

Most freshmen are trying to adjust to varsity football.

Weaver is already contributing to it.

Triple Threat D’s Pick: Elijah “EJ” Gibson — Ensworth

RB | Class of 2027 | Senior

The Workhorse

31 carries.

213 rushing yards.

6.9 yards per carry.

That’s a workload.

And that’s why Elijah “EJ” Gibson gets Triple Threat D’s Week 1 stamp.

Gibson powered Ensworth’s rushing attack as the Tigers defeated Whitehaven 24-8 to open the season.

This wasn’t about one explosive run.

It was about carrying the load from start to finish.

Thirty-one rushing attempts require toughness, conditioning and the trust of your coaching staff.

Gibson delivered all three.

He entered his senior season after rushing for 1,614 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior, giving Ensworth a proven veteran in the backfield.

He’s been contributing at the varsity level since his freshman season.

When Ensworth needed yards, they put the football in his hands.

Again.

And again.

And again.

One Touch Can Change Everything

11 carries.

200 rushing yards.

Three touchdowns.

That’s how Quincy Mitchell opened the 2026 season.

The Forrest running back averaged more than 18 yards per carry as the Rockets rolled to a 42-8 victory over Creek Wood.

Then came the home run.

84 yards. Touchdown. Gone.

But Week 1 wasn’t Mitchell’s introduction to Tennessee high school football.

He entered the season after being named a 2025 Tennessee Titans Mr. Football finalist in Class 3A.

Mitchell was also selected as a TSWA Class 3A All-State running back, adding another honor to an already impressive young résumé.

That’s what makes his Week 1 performance stand out even more.

This wasn’t a breakout from an unknown player.

It was another statement from one of Class 3A’s proven playmakers.

Two hundred yards.

Three touchdowns.

Only 11 carries.

Four Tennessee High School Football Players Earn Week 1 TTS Stamps
