Battle Ground Academy claims No. 1 after an explosive victory, Oakland dominates on the ground, and the entire TTS Top 5 produces major Week 1 performances.

The first official TTS Middle Tennessee high school football rankings of the 2026 season are here, and Battle Ground Academy sits at No. 1 following an explosive 41-18 victory over St. Michael Catholic in Week 1.
BGA’s high-powered passing attack earned the top spot, but Oakland wasn’t far behind after dominating CPA 56-7. Brentwood Academy remained firmly in the Top 3 despite a loss to Baylor, while Ensworth and Franklin Road Academy rounded out the first TTS Top 5 of the season.
Four members of the Triple Threat Sportscast crew — Triple Threat Tray, Triple Threat D, JG and Coach Daniel — submitted individual Top 10 ballots.
Only the first five positions on each ballot earned points:
- No. 1: 5 points
- No. 2: 4 points
- No. 3: 3 points
- No. 4: 2 points
- No. 5: 1 point
That created 15 available points on each ballot and 60 total points across the four voters. A team could earn a maximum of 20 points.
BGA finished with 19 points, Oakland followed with 17, and Brentwood Academy secured third with 12.
Ensworth and Franklin Road Academy completed a Top 5 featuring four Week 1 victories and several explosive individual performances.

No. 1 Battle Ground Academy: Passing Game Explodes in 41-18 Victory
Battle Ground Academy claimed the No. 1 position after opening the 2026 season with a 41-18 victory over St. Michael Catholic.
Quarterback Bo Bryan completed 16 of 21 passes for 379 yards and three touchdowns, leading an explosive BGA passing attack.
Bryan had two receivers produce huge performances.
Max Curry caught five passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns, while Maddox Porter finished with eight receptions for 142 yards and one touchdown.
Together, Curry and Porter accounted for:
13 receptions.
333 receiving yards.
Three touchdowns.
And all three of Bryan’s touchdown passes.
BGA also received balance from Fletcher Fields, who rushed for 62 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.
Three members of the TTS crew — Triple Threat Tray, Triple Threat D and JG — ranked Battle Ground Academy No. 1.
Coach Daniel placed BGA second.
That gave BGA 19 of a possible 20 points and the first No. 1 ranking of the season.
No. 2 Oakland: Seven Rushing Touchdowns Fuel 56-7 Rout
If BGA made its argument through the air, Oakland made its statement on the ground.
Oakland opened the season by defeating CPA 56-7, scoring eight total touchdowns in the victory.
Seven came on the ground.
One came through the air.
Quarterback Kamryn Morton completed 11 of 13 passes for 113 yards and one touchdown while also adding a rushing touchdown.
But the biggest rushing performance belonged to Jacob Vaughn.
Vaughn rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, giving Oakland explosive production without needing a heavy workload.
Coach Daniel ranked Oakland No. 1.
Tray, D and JG each placed Oakland second.
That gave Oakland 17 points, only two behind BGA.
After Week 1, the top of the TTS rankings already looks like a two-team race.
BGA at 19. Oakland at 17.
Two dominant opening performances.
Two very different offensive identities.
No. 3 Brentwood Academy: Big Plays Stand Out Despite Loss to Baylor
Brentwood Academy was the only team in the TTS Top 5 to lose in Week 1, falling 38-20 to Baylor.
But BA still produced enough explosive offensive plays to remain firmly inside the Top 3.
All four TTS voters ranked Brentwood Academy third, giving BA a unanimous 12 points.
Quarterback Crews Jenkins completed 11 of 16 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 12 rushing yards on two carries.
His two biggest receiving targets both produced more than 100 yards.
Lex Baskin caught four passes for 111 yards and a touchdown, including a 67-yard touchdown reception from Jenkins.
Kesean Bowman caught an 80-yard touchdown pass and finished with 110 receiving yards and one score.
Baskin and Bowman combined for:
221 receiving yards.
Two touchdowns.
And both of Brentwood Academy’s passing scores.
BA didn’t get the result it wanted, but the explosive offensive production was enough for every member of the TTS crew to agree on where Brentwood Academy belongs after Week 1.
No. 3. Unanimously.
No. 4 Ensworth: EJ Gibson Powers 24-8 Victory
Ensworth opened its season with a 24-8 victory over Whitehaven, and senior running back Elijah “EJ” Gibson provided the offensive foundation.
Gibson carried the football 31 times for 213 rushing yards.
That’s not just production.
That’s a workload.
Thirty-one carries require toughness, conditioning and the trust of the coaching staff, and Gibson gave Ensworth exactly what it needed.
Triple Threat D and Coach Daniel each ranked Ensworth fourth.
JG placed Ensworth fifth.
Tray ranked the Tigers sixth.
Because only Top 5 placements earned points, Tray’s sixth-place ranking did not add to Ensworth’s total.
The other three ballots gave Ensworth five points, enough to secure the No. 4 position in the first TTS rankings.
No. 5 Franklin Road Academy: All Three Phases Score in 56-14 Win
Franklin Road Academy made sure every phase of the game contributed during its 56-14 victory over South Gibson.
Offense scored.
Defense scored.
Special teams scored.
Running back Kwadir Fletcher led the offensive attack with 101 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Then FRA started finding the end zone in other ways.
Mello Armstrong returned an interception 80 yards for a touchdown.
Omarii Sanders added a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Those plays showed FRA could change a game without depending entirely on its offense.
FRA earned two points from Tray’s fourth-place vote and another point from Triple Threat D’s fifth-place vote.
That produced three total points.
And that’s where the final spot became interesting.
FRA and Ravenwood Finish Tied for Fifth in Points
Ravenwood also finished with three points.
Tray ranked Ravenwood fifth, while JG placed Ravenwood fourth.
The official TTS order placed Franklin Road Academy fifth and Ravenwood sixth, making the final spot in the Week 1 Top 5 the closest race on the board.
That creates an immediate storyline heading into Week 2.
FRA owns the position.
Ravenwood is right behind it.
And one strong performance could completely change the order next Wednesday.
Receiving Consideration
Several Middle Tennessee programs landed on ballots without earning enough points to reach the official Top 5.
Ravenwood begins immediately outside the rankings with three points.
Montgomery Bell Academy is seventh with one point.
Page sits eighth despite appearing somewhere on all four Top 10 ballots.
Blackman and Antioch complete the official receiving-consideration group.
Maplewood, Lipscomb Academy, East Nashville, Green Hill and Riverdale also appeared on individual TTS ballots.
However, because the TTS voting system only awards points for placements inside the Top 5, those selections did not generate ranking points this week.

The Final Word on the TTS Week 1 Rankings
Week 1 produced a clear picture at the top of the first Middle Tennessee high school football rankings of 2026.
Battle Ground Academy and Oakland separated themselves with two dominant but very different offensive performances.
BGA attacked through the air behind Bo Bryan’s 379 passing yards, with Max Curry and Maddox Porter combining for 333 receiving yards.
Oakland dominated on the ground, scoring seven rushing touchdowns while Jacob Vaughn needed only seven carries to produce 194 yards and two scores.
Brentwood Academy remained the unanimous No. 3 despite its loss to Baylor.
Ensworth rode EJ Gibson’s 213 rushing yards to a Week 1 victory.
Franklin Road Academy found the end zone on offense, defense and special teams to grab the final Top 5 position.
The first TTS Week 1 Top 5 is officially set.
But nobody gets to live off Week 1 forever.
Next week’s performances bring another round of ballots.
Another 60 available points.
And another opportunity for somebody to move up, fall out or take over the No. 1 spot.
