TTS Week 2 Middle Tennessee High School Football Rankings: BGA Stays No. 1

Battle Ground Academy grabs 19 of 20 possible points as Oakland, Ensworth, Brentwood Academy and Page round out the Week 2 TTS Top 5.

Two weeks into the 2026 season, the Middle Tennessee high school football rankings are starting to take shape.

Some teams are dominating. Some are proving themselves against difficult schedules. Others are forcing their way into the conversation with statement victories.

That is exactly what the Triple Threat Sportscast Wednesday Rankings are designed to measure.

Four members of the TTS crew, Triple Threat Tray, Triple Threat D, JG and Coach Daniel, each submitted a Top 10 ballot. Only the Top 5 positions earned points, with five points awarded for a first-place vote, four for second, three for third, two for fourth and one for fifth.

That gives the TTS crew 60 total ranking points available each week.

After the Week 2 ballots were calculated, Battle Ground Academy remained No. 1 with 19 points, followed by Oakland with 15, Ensworth with 11, Brentwood Academy with seven and Page with five.

But the rankings do not tell the entire story.

No. 1 Battle Ground Academy: BGA Keeps the Crown

Record: 2-0 | 19 points

BGA is not simply winning football games right now.

The Wildcats are making statements.

Battle Ground Academy opened the season by traveling to Alabama and defeating St. Michael Catholic 41-18, then followed that performance with a complete demolition of Columbia Academy, 62-0.

Through two games, BGA has outscored its opponents 103-18.

The opener immediately caught the TTS crew’s attention because BGA did not shy away from the spotlight.

Quarterback Bo Bryan completed 16 of 21 passes for 379 yards and three touchdowns against St. Michael Catholic.

And he was not alone.

Max Curry caught five passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns, while Maddox Porter finished with eight receptions for 142 yards and one touchdown.

Fletcher Fields added another dimension on the ground with 62 rushing yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.

Week 1 established BGA’s offensive firepower.

Week 2 showed something else.

The Wildcats completely overwhelmed Columbia Academy, 62-0.

According to the stat line provided to TTS, Bryan completed 8 of 8 passes for 189 yards and four touchdowns, giving BGA another highly efficient performance from its quarterback.

The progression is what stands out.

Week 1 showed BGA could win a high-profile matchup with explosive offensive production.

Week 2 showed the Wildcats could completely dominate an opponent on both sides of the football.

Triple Threat Tray, Triple Threat D and JG each placed BGA first, while Coach Daniel ranked the Wildcats second.

That gave Battle Ground Academy 19 of 20 possible points.

TTS Take

BGA has already shown explosiveness, quarterback play, receiving weapons and defensive dominance through two different types of victories.

The Wildcats have not given the TTS crew a reason to move them.

Until somebody does, Battle Ground Academy remains No. 1.

No. 2 Oakland: Patriots Keep Pressure on BGA

Record: 2-0 | 15 points

Oakland may not occupy the top spot in the Week 2 TTS rankings, but the Patriots are not making life easy for BGA.

Their first two victories have been impressive for different reasons.

First came a 56-7 destruction of CPA.

Then Oakland left Tennessee, traveled to Centerville, Ohio, and came home with a convincing 50-20 victory.

That is 106 points in two games.

And the road victory matters in the TTS evaluation.

The rankings are not based only on final scores.

Where a team played matters.

Who it played matters.

How it performed outside its comfort zone matters.

Going on the road and putting 50 points on an Ohio opponent adds another layer to Oakland’s résumé.

The Patriots established their identity immediately against CPA.

Oakland accumulated 324 rushing yards, while quarterback Kamryn Morton completed 11 of 13 passes for 113 yards and a touchdown while also adding a rushing score.

Then there was Jacob Vaughn.

Vaughn needed only seven carries to explode for 194 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Week 2 showed Oakland’s depth.

Against Centerville, Kamani Bass rushed for 126 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries while adding another 28 receiving yards.

Vaughn contributed 74 rushing yards on 10 carries and added 76 receiving yards and one touchdown.

That is what makes Oakland dangerous.

It is not about one player.

It is waves of players.

The Patriots can beat teams with physicality, explosive runs, depth and a style of football that has become a calling card for the program.

Coach Daniel gave Oakland his first-place vote, while Triple Threat Tray and Triple Threat D each ranked the Patriots second.

TTS Take

Four points separate Oakland and BGA in the voting, but that should not be mistaken for a massive gap between the teams.

Oakland is 2-0, has scored 106 points, beat CPA by 49 and followed it by winning an out-of-state game by 30.

That is a championship-level résumé through two weeks.

BGA has the crown. Oakland is coming for it.

No. 3 Ensworth: EJ Gibson Is Establishing an Identity

Record: 2-0 | 11 points

If there is one player who has become impossible for the TTS crew to ignore through two weeks, it is EJ Gibson.

And because of what Gibson and the Ensworth offensive line are doing, the Tigers have climbed to No. 3.

Ensworth opened against Whitehaven and earned a physical 24-8 victory.

Gibson carried the football 31 times for 213 yards.

Thirty-one carries is more than production.

It represents workload and trust.

It is an offense telling the opponent exactly what it wants to do and then daring that defense to stop it.

Then Gibson raised the bar in Week 2.

Against Nashville Christian, Gibson again carried the football 31 times, this time exploding for 260 rushing yards and four touchdowns as Ensworth won 35-21.

Through two games, Gibson has:

62 carries.

473 rushing yards.

Back-to-back 200-yard rushing performances.

More importantly, Ensworth is 2-0.

The Tigers are not producing empty numbers in losses. Gibson’s production is directly translating into victories.

And while Gibson deserves the attention, running backs do not carry the football 62 times for 473 yards without the offensive line doing serious work.

That physicality is quickly becoming Ensworth’s identity.

Control the football.

Wear opponents down.

Finish drives.

JG ranked Ensworth second, Triple Threat D placed the Tigers third, and both Tray and Coach Daniel had them fourth.

Ensworth may have established the clearest offensive identity of any team in the Top 5.

Everybody knows Gibson is getting the football.

He is still producing.

That is what makes it impressive.

If Gibson and the Ensworth offensive line continue playing at this level, the Tigers may eventually be looking beyond simply holding the No. 3 position.

No. 4 Brentwood Academy: Strength of Schedule Still Matters

Record: 1-1 | 7 points

This is where the TTS ranking philosophy matters.

If records were the only measurement, a 1-1 Brentwood Academy team sitting ahead of several undefeated programs might look unusual.

But look at the competition.

BA opened the season against Baylor in a rematch of the 2025 Division II-AAA state championship game.

Baylor won 38-20, but Brentwood Academy was facing one of the strongest programs on its schedule in a nationally televised game on ESPN2.

That is not the kind of loss that automatically sends a team crashing down the rankings.

And even in defeat, BA showed plenty of offensive weapons.

Quarterback Crews Jenkins completed 11 of 16 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns.

Lex Baskin caught four passes for 111 yards and a touchdown, including a 67-yard score.

Kesean Bowman finished with more than 100 receiving yards and added an 80-yard touchdown reception.

Then came the response.

Brentwood Academy faced rival Brentwood High and exploded for a 49-14 victory.

Jenkins delivered a huge performance, completing 20 of 25 passes for 371 yards and four touchdowns while also adding 18 rushing yards.

His receivers produced too.

Lex Baskin: 5 receptions, 154 yards, 2 touchdowns.

Judah Lancaster: 7 receptions, 107 yards, 2 touchdowns.

Jenkins had two different receivers surpass 100 yards while throwing four touchdown passes.

Brentwood Academy also made an impact defensively.

Kenny Simon returned an interception 36 yards for a touchdown and recorded five tackles.

That is the type of complete response the TTS crew wanted to see after the Baylor loss.

BA could have allowed Week 1 to linger.

Instead, the Eagles responded by winning by 35.

Through Two Games

Using the TTS stat lines from the first two weeks, Jenkins has thrown for 615 yards and six touchdowns.

Baskin has produced nine receptions for 265 yards and three touchdowns.

That is serious offensive production against a schedule that has not been friendly.

Brentwood Academy represents exactly why the Wednesday Rankings are not simply a standings table.

Strength of opponent matters.

Quality of loss matters.

Response matters.

BA lost to an elite Baylor team and immediately answered with a 49-point offensive performance.

That is enough to keep Brentwood Academy firmly inside the TTS Top 5.

No. 5 Page: Patriots Force Their Way Into the Top 5

Record: 2-0 | 5 points

Page may have made the biggest statement of any team trying to break into the official Week 2 Top 5.

The Patriots opened with a convincing 48-14 victory over Giles County.

Quarterback Cameron Kruse threw for 176 yards and four touchdowns, while Isaac Otey rushed for 204 yards and one touchdown.

Then Page took things another step against Green Hill.

Page 35. Green Hill 0.

A shutout.

The Patriots improved to 2-0 while showing they are capable of doing much more than scoring points.

Page can defend.

It can create turnovers.

It can pressure quarterbacks.

And it can completely control games.

Kruse, a Kansas State commit, was extremely efficient against Green Hill, completing 14 of 16 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns.

Crandall caught six passes for 149 yards and one touchdown, giving Page another explosive element in the passing game.

Then there was Taylon Cisneros defensively.

Cisneros recorded three tackles, one sack, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery.

That is impact production across multiple categories.

And the Page defense did not allow a point.

MaxPreps had Page at No. 1 in Tennessee Division 5A following the Green Hill victory.

JG was the biggest believer among the TTS voters, placing Page third. Triple Threat D ranked the Patriots fourth, while Tray and Coach Daniel each had Page sixth.

That combination gave Page five points and the final position in the official TTS Top 5.

TTS Take

Page went from scoring 48 points in Week 1 to pitching a 35-0 shutout in Week 2.

That is balance.

And balance travels.

Page is not No. 5 simply because somebody had to occupy the final position.

The Patriots earned their way into the Top 5.

Right Outside the TTS Top 5

No. 6 Franklin Road Academy: 2 points. FRA received fifth-place votes from both Triple Threat Tray and Triple Threat D and sits only three points behind Page.

No. 7 Montgomery Bell Academy: 1 point. MBA received Coach Daniel’s fifth-place vote and appeared seventh on each of the other three ballots, showing consistent respect across the crew.

No. 8 Lipscomb Academy: 0 points. The Mustangs did not receive a Top 5 vote but appeared on three ballots.

No. 9 Riverdale: 0 points. Riverdale landed eighth on three different ballots and remains in the broader conversation.

No. 10 Antioch: 0 points. Antioch appeared somewhere on all four ballots. The Bears may not have a ranking point yet, but one major performance could push them higher.

The Final Word on the Week 2 Middle Tennessee High School Football Rankings

Two weeks into the 2026 season, the TTS crew has five very different résumés at the top.

Battle Ground Academy has explosive offense, a major opening victory and a 62-point shutout.

Oakland has scored 106 points, dominated CPA and traveled outside Tennessee for another convincing victory.

Ensworth has developed an identity behind EJ Gibson, who has rushed for 473 yards in two games.

Brentwood Academy challenged Baylor before answering with a 49-14 statement victory.

Page has combined offensive firepower with a defense that just pitched a shutout.

That is what the TTS Wednesday Rankings are designed to represent.

Not just records.

Not just names.

Not just reputations.

The TTS crew is asking deeper questions.

Who did you play? Where did you play? How did you perform? Did you dominate teams you were supposed to beat? How did you respond when the competition got tougher?

And most importantly:

What have you earned on the field?

Right now, Battle Ground Academy has earned the No. 1 spot.

Oakland is right behind them.

Ensworth is rising.

Brentwood Academy remains dangerous.

Page has arrived.

And Week 3 could change everything.
