RB #2 Larry Sanders interviewed by JG and D of Triple Threat Sportscast

Brentwood Academy is heading to the Division II-AAA state championship after a dominant 38-7 semifinal win over Christ Presbyterian Academy, and junior running back Larry Sanders II was the star of the night.

Right after the win, Triple Threat Sportscast caught up with Sanders on the field for a quick post game interview, and he was still carrying the energy from one of the biggest performances of his high school career.

Sanders finished the semifinal with 20 plus carries, 200 plus rushing yards, and four touchdowns, completely taking over the game and setting the tone from the opening quarter. When Brentwood Academy needed a play, No. 2 delivered over and over again.

Who Larry Sanders II Is Right Now

Sanders is a class of 2027 running back at Brentwood Academy, listed at around 5-foot-8 and 175 to 180 pounds, wearing No. 2 for the Eagles.

He is compact and explosive and plays with a natural balance that makes defenders bounce off him. His style is built on:

  • Quick burst through the hole
  • Low center of gravity
  • Relentless finish through contact

Recruiting outlets such as Prep Redzone and 247Sports describe him as a juice back with electric feet, power through contact, and a tough finish between the tackles.

He is Brentwood Academy’s workhorse now, and everybody in the stadium knows it.

From Emerging Piece to Offensive Centerpiece

Last year, Sanders flashed. This year, he arrived.

Early in the season, The Tennessean listed him among Nashville’s rising running backs and noted his 482 yards and eight touchdowns from the previous year even though Brentwood Academy had a pass heavy offense.

Heading into 2025, he came back stronger, more explosive, more decisive, and more confident with the ball in his hands.

His resume leading into the semifinal told the full story:

  • 170 rushing yards and a touchdown against Briarcrest
  • Multiple multi touchdown games
  • More than 1,300 rushing yards through Brentwood Academy’s 9-0 start
  • Then 20 plus carries, 200 plus yards, and four touchdowns in the semifinal

When Triple Threat Sportscast talked to him after the game, his focus was clear. He is ready to finish the mission in Chattanooga.

Running Style and Mindset

Every scouting report hits the same notes:

  • Slippery in space
  • Strong through first contact
  • Elite acceleration out of his cut
  • Patient behind his blockers
  • Explosive in the open field

At FBU Nashville, evaluations highlighted him as one of the most explosive backs in the event, and that same explosiveness showed up under the playoff lights against Christ Presbyterian Academy.

On film, he is a true workhorse who can carry the offense for four quarters.

Recruiting Buzz

The recruiting momentum is growing fast for the class of 2027 standout.

  • Listed across major scouting outlets as a 2027 running back
  • Verified measurements around 5 foot 8 and 180 pounds
  • Featured on Prep Redzone, 247Sports, and statewide recruiting coverage
  • Nominated by Brentwood Academy for the DII-AAA Mr. Football Award
  • More than 1,300 rushing yards across Brentwood Academy’s undefeated run
  • Multiple college programs showing early interest

His official offer list is not public yet, but based on his production and exposure, that is only a matter of time.

Where He Stands Heading Into the State Championship

Right now, Larry Sanders II is:

  • Brentwood Academy’s offensive heartbeat
  • One of Tennessee’s most productive junior running backs
  • A rising 2027 prospect with real college potential
  • A playoff built runner who shows up in big games

After our post game interview, one thing was clear. He is locked in on finishing the job.

If Brentwood Academy lifts the trophy in Chattanooga, this semifinal performance might go down as the night he announced himself to the entire state.
