Oakland’s RB Craig Tutt during a postgame interview at the 6A state championship

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Oakland did what Oakland does in December, but this time the spotlight never left one man. Ole Miss commit and Oakland running back Craig Tutt delivered a historic performance in the TSSAA Class 6A BlueCross Bowl, pounding out 32 rushing attempts for 226 yards and seven touchdowns in a 62-21 win over Ravenwood at Finley Stadium.

Behind Tutt’s dominance, the Patriots finished the season 14-0, claimed a 62-21 victory, and added yet another gold ball to Murfreesboro’s growing collection. The win marked Oakland’s ninth state championship overall and continued a run that now includes five titles in the last six seasons, solidifying the Patriots as the standard in Tennessee’s largest classification.

A Record-Tying Night On The Biggest Stage

The story of the 6A championship was simple: everyone in Finley Stadium knew Oakland wanted to run the football — and nobody could stop it.

Tutt’s final stat line looked like something out of a video game: 32 carries, 226 yards, seven touchdowns, a long rush of 47 yards, and 7.1 yards per carry. Play after play, he wore down Ravenwood’s front, finishing runs with balance and power while consistently falling forward for extra yards.

His 47-yard burst in the fourth quarter was the backbreaker — the moment the stadium collectively felt the game slip out of reach. Tutt broke through the line, hit the second level untouched, and outran the secondary for his fourth score of the night, stretching Oakland’s lead and slamming the door shut.

By the time he crossed the goal line for touchdown number seven, Tutt had tied a long-standing BlueCross Bowl record for the most touchdowns ever scored in a championship game.

Setting The Tone Early

Oakland didn’t ease its way into this moment. From the opening series, head coach Kevin Creasy and his staff sent a clear message: they were willing to ride Tutt all night long.

Behind a dominant offensive line, the Patriots opened the game with a physical, clock-draining drive finished off by a hard-nosed Tutt touchdown. Minutes later, he punched in touchdown number two, giving Oakland total control before Ravenwood could settle in.

The Raptors answered behind Navy commit Maverick Chance, but every spark Ravenwood found was immediately smothered by Tutt’s explosiveness. His third touchdown before halftime capped a crisp two-minute drill that sent Oakland into the locker room ahead 28-7.

Oakland’s Offensive Line Deserves A Game Ball Too

Tutt was the headliner, but Oakland’s offensive line was the engine. They consistently created vertical movement at the point of attack, turning what should’ve been short gains into chunk plays. Inside zone, power, counter — Oakland ran the full menu, and Ravenwood struggled to stay disciplined against their tempo and misdirection.

Complementary back Kam Morton added a key touchdown in the third quarter, but this night belonged to Tutt and the group paving lanes in front of him.

Defense Backs Up The Statement

While the offense rolled, Oakland’s defense quietly played championship-level football. Facing Ravenwood’s two-quarterback look and perimeter threats, the Patriots bottled up big plays and forced long drives that rarely ended in points.

Ravenwood was held under 300 total yards, and Oakland constantly squeezed the pocket, forced hurried throws, and limited the Raptors’ explosive weapons. By the final quarter, Oakland’s defense had fully taken control of the tempo, allowing the offense to keep feeding Tutt until the game became his personal highlight reel.

Another Gold Ball For Murfreesboro — And A Legacy Night For Tutt

With this victory, Oakland adds another BlueCross Bowl trophy to its dynasty run — championships in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024, and now 2025, plus multiple runner-up finishes.

But the night belonged to Craig Tutt.

He didn’t just play well — he took over the biggest game of the Tennessee high school football season. Seven touchdowns. A workhorse 32 carries. 226 yards that defined toughness, patience, vision, and big-time finishing speed.

Tutt leaves Murfreesboro as a legend — and as Oakland’s latest reminder of why December football runs through the Patriots.
