Triple Threat Tray and JG with 2x Peach Jam Champion Trey Pearson

Big district games on the road test more than talent. They test composure.

That is exactly where Trey Pearson stepped up, helping lead a 68-59 district win over Father Ryan in a game that required poise, resilience, and a strong finish. After the final horn, Pearson made it clear this was about more than just one night.

When asked how he felt about the magnitude of the district win, Pearson kept it honest and forward-focused.

“It was a good one, we came out rough at first but we finished strong trying to finish out the region 6-0, and we’re 3-0 right now for the last 6 games but we just gotta finish it.”

Trey Pearson Sets the Tone Late

Pearson’s impact was felt most when the game demanded control. After a shaky opening stretch, he helped steady the group, making timely plays and bringing energy on both ends. Whether it was attacking in space, making the right read, or staying locked in defensively, he played with the confidence of someone who understood the moment.

Road environments can flip quickly, but Pearson’s presence helped keep the focus on execution rather than emotion.

Responding After a Rough Start

The opening portion of the game did not go smoothly. Father Ryan came out aggressive, feeding off their home crowd and forcing early adjustments. But as the game settled, the visitors responded with better spacing, stronger defensive possessions, and more control in transition.

Pearson and company started to win the small battles. Cleaner closeouts. Better shot selection. Finishing possessions with rebounds.

By the time the second half unfolded, momentum had shifted.

Closing Like a District Contender

Down the stretch, the visitors played with purpose. Ball movement improved, defensive pressure tightened, and Father Ryan struggled to find consistent answers. Pearson’s leadership was evident as the team leaned into composure rather than rushing possessions.

The 68-59 final reflected a team that trusted its process and understood how to close on the road.

Bigger Than One Win

This was a statement district win, not just because of the opponent, but because of the setting. Winning away from home in district play often separates contenders from the rest.

Pearson’s postgame comments summed up the mindset perfectly. Start better. Finish stronger. Stay locked in on the bigger goal.

If they continue to close games the way they did here, this group is positioning itself exactly where it wants to be as district play moves forward.
