THREAT CHECK Tray’s Pick
Maplewood over Melrose
Prediction: Maplewood 30–24
Maplewood comes into this week playing fast, confident, and hungry. They’re physical at the line of scrimmage and play with that “chip-on-the-shoulder” energy that shows up in big games. They attack space, they get downhill, and they control tempo when they find rhythm.
Melrose is structured and disciplined, but Maplewood’s advantage is momentum, and when Maplewood starts dictating pace, they become dangerous.
Maplewood wins if they: stay aggressive, win field position, and pressure Melrose into 3rd-and-long.
THREAT CHECK JG’s Pick
Antioch over Collierville
Prediction: Antioch 27–20
Antioch is fearless. They play loose and explosive, and when they flip momentum, they strike fast. They attack matchups and use pure athleticism to stretch defenses. When Antioch plays downhill and attacks space, they create problems.
Collierville is steady and well-coached, but Antioch’s edge comes from pressure and opportunistic playmaking.
Antioch wins if they: limit penalties, take shots, and stay in attack mode.
THREAT CHECK D’s Pick
Franklin Road Academy over Silverdale
Prediction: FRA 35–7
FRA plays efficient, disciplined playoff football. They protect the ball, control the clock, and execute. They’re built to dominate time of possession and force you to play their game.
Silverdale battles hard, but FRA is precise, and precision wins in November.
FRA wins if they: set the tone early and dictate pace.
SLEEPER PICKS OF THE WEEK
(these are games people are overlooking, either team can win)
Tray’s Sleeper Pick
Riverdale vs. Maryville
Prediction: Riverdale 30–24 (upset alert)
Riverdale has the physicality and explosiveness that travel in November. Maryville is known for discipline and execution, especially deep in the playoffs, but Riverdale has the athletes to flip this game with one drive.
This matchup isn’t getting talked about enough.
D’s Sleeper Pick
Springfield vs. Lexington
Pick: Springfield wins (no score prediction)
Springfield plays with toughness, confident defense, high-effort players, and a team that can grind you down over four quarters. Lexington is scrappy and capable of trading punches, but Springfield’s defensive intensity gives them the edge.
This one is about grit.
JG’s Sleeper Pick
Blackman vs. Dobyns-Bennett
Prediction: Dobyns-Bennett 35–27
Two teams with big-play capability and quarterbacks who can stretch the field. Dobyns-Bennett brings playoff experience. Blackman brings raw explosiveness and upside. This one is a punch-for-punch matchup.
Whichever team controls the 4th quarter wins.
