By Triple Threat Sportscast
Four voters.
Four different perspectives.
One official ranking.
The race for Middle Tennessee high school football supremacy is tightening, and the latest Triple Threat Sportscast Wednesday Rankings delivered another week of debate, separation and serious questions about which programs truly belong among the area’s elite.
Battle Ground Academy still owns the throne.
Riverdale is gaining respect.
Montgomery Bell Academy continues building its case.
Brentwood Academy is sending a powerful message.
And undefeated Antioch still refuses to go away.
With ballots submitted by Triple Threat D, Triple Threat Trey, JG and Coach Daniel, the TTS crew has officially established its Week 8 rankings.
The voting system rewards each voter’s Top Five selections. First place earns five points, second receives four, third earns three, fourth gets two and fifth receives one.
Teams ranked sixth through 10 remain under consideration but do not earn voting points.
With 60 total points available across four ballots, every Top Five selection matters.

Positions 6-10 represent the TTS consideration list. Only Top Five placements on individual ballots earn points.
No. 1 — Battle Ground Academy (6-1) | 17 Points
The Wildcats still own the throne.
Three first-place votes.
Seventeen total points.
Another week at No. 1.
Battle Ground Academy remains the team to beat in the eyes of the Triple Threat Sportscast crew.
The Wildcats have built an offensive identity capable of putting opposing defenses under constant pressure. Their passing attack can stretch the field, and their ability to generate explosive plays makes them dangerous whenever they possess the football.
Quarterback B. Bryan and receiver M. Porter have been important pieces of that production.
In BGA’s victory over Chattanooga Prep, Porter finished with 141 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The Wildcats also own an impressive 49-6 victory over Pearl-Cohn and survived a 41-36 battle against Franklin Road Academy.
But one result still matters when evaluating BGA against the other championship contenders.
The 42-21 loss to Milton remains the Wildcats’ biggest measuring stick.
The TTS Verdict
BGA has earned the top position through consistent offensive production and overwhelming support from the crew.
But as the postseason approaches, the Wildcats still have to show they can deliver when the level of competition rises.
The throne belongs to BGA. The question is whether anybody can take it.
No. 2 — Riverdale (6-1) | 12 Points
The Warriors are making a serious statement.
Riverdale is not simply winning football games.
The Warriors are building momentum and establishing themselves as one of Middle Tennessee’s most dangerous Class 6A programs.
After dropping their opener against Knoxville Catholic, Riverdale responded with six consecutive victories.
Among those wins was an important 30-14 victory over Smyrna, a team that had previously defeated Oakland.
Riverdale’s offensive production has been difficult to ignore.
The Warriors beat LaVergne 56-0 and followed that type of dominance with a 55-6 victory over Stewarts Creek.
Senior receiver Brylan Oduor has emerged as a dangerous piece of the passing attack, while defensive back Hudson Fuqua provides experience and playmaking ability in the secondary.
Two TTS voters placed Riverdale second, JG ranked the Warriors third and Triple Threat Trey placed them fifth.
The TTS Verdict
Riverdale has earned this position by stacking wins and building week-to-week consistency.
The Warriors have legitimate championship aspirations.
But the biggest remaining tests will determine whether Riverdale can move from chasing BGA to taking the top spot.
No. 3 — Montgomery Bell Academy (7-1) | 11 Points
The Big Red keep building their case.
One first-place vote was enough to show that at least one member of the TTS crew believes MBA may be the best team in Middle Tennessee.
JG placed Montgomery Bell Academy at No. 1, helping the Big Red finish third overall with 11 points.
MBA improved to 7-1 following a convincing 35-7 victory over Father Ryan.
The Big Red have also shown they can win in completely different types of games.
Their 14-10 victory over Christ Presbyterian Academy showed they could survive a defensive battle.
Their 40-36 victory against Franklin Road Academy showed they could win when the scoreboard started moving.
Versatility is becoming a major part of MBA’s identity.
Junior Henri Perry has also provided value as a special-teams contributor and defensive playmaker.
The biggest blemish on MBA’s résumé remains its 45-17 loss to Baylor.
The TTS Verdict
MBA possesses the balance, résumé and versatility to challenge anybody in these rankings.
Only one point separates the Big Red from Riverdale.
Do not overlook MBA. The Big Red are legitimate contenders.
No. 4 — Brentwood Academy (6-2) | 10 Points
The Eagles might be the most dangerous fourth-ranked team in Middle Tennessee.
If one Week 8 performance demanded everybody’s attention, it came from Brentwood Academy.
The Eagles delivered a statement with a dominant 42-7 victory over previously unbeaten Briarcrest Christian.
And the biggest individual story was running back Larry Sanders II.
Sanders exploded for 195 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 21 carries, delivering one of the most impressive individual performances of the week.
The performance showcased his explosiveness, scoring ability and capacity to take over a football game against quality competition.
Brentwood Academy’s two losses also have to be evaluated within the context of the schedule the Eagles have faced.
A 49-14 victory over Brentwood and the recent domination of Briarcrest strengthen BA’s argument for climbing even higher.
JG ranked Brentwood Academy second.
Triple Threat Trey placed the Eagles third.
The TTS Verdict
Brentwood Academy may have the strongest argument for being underrated in this week’s rankings.
The Eagles are playing outstanding football, and their combination of physicality and explosive offensive talent makes them a serious championship threat.
The question is no longer whether BA belongs in the Top Five. The question is whether No. 4 is high enough.
No. 5 — Antioch (8-0) | 7 Points
Eight games.
Eight victories.
Zero apologies.
Antioch continues doing the one thing every football program wants to do.
Win.
The Bears remain undefeated following a thrilling 34-31 victory over Franklin Road Academy, one of their most important wins of the season.
Quarterback Andre Adams delivered another huge performance, passing for 392 yards and three touchdowns while adding 67 rushing yards and another score.
Receiver Aaden Adams contributed 11 receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown, giving Antioch another dangerous weapon through the air.
Defensively, Fred Ntumba recorded 11 tackles, two tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
Antioch has now shown it can dominate lesser opponents and survive a close game when challenged.
But no team on this board may divide the TTS voting room more.
Triple Threat Trey ranked Antioch second.
Coach Daniel placed the Bears fourth.
JG ranked them fifth.
Triple Threat D had Antioch eighth.
That six-position spread tells you everything about the debate.
How much weight should an undefeated record carry compared with strength of competition?
The TTS Verdict
Antioch deserves recognition for starting 8-0.
The Bears have explosive playmakers and the ability to score quickly.
Their next challenge is proving that the undefeated résumé will hold up when postseason competition gets tougher.
The Next Five — Receiving Consideration
No. 6 — Lipscomb Academy (5-2) | 3 Points
Lipscomb Academy may be the most interesting team outside the official Top Five.
Despite playing one of the more demanding schedules in the area, the Mustangs received only three points, all from Triple Threat D’s third-place vote.
Lipscomb owns notable victories over Ravenwood, Ensworth, Christian Brothers College and Father Ryan.
The Mustangs have also shown resilience, winning four consecutive games after a narrow loss to Knoxville Catholic.
Is Lipscomb really the sixth-best team, or is its schedule being undervalued?
No. 7 — Oakland (6-1) | 0 Points
Oakland continues receiving respect from every member of the TTS crew.
All four voters included the Patriots somewhere in their Top 10.
Nobody placed them inside the Top Five.
The Patriots still have opportunities to change the conversation as the regular season moves toward its conclusion.
No. 8 — Page (7-1) | 0 Points
Page continues building its case as one of the strongest Class 5A programs in Middle Tennessee.
The Patriots’ only defeat came against Brentwood, and their overall consistency keeps them firmly in the rankings conversation.
Page appeared on all four ballots but did not receive a Top Five placement.
No. 9 — Brentwood (7-1) | 0 Points
The Bruins have quietly put together another impressive season.
At 7-1, Brentwood has remained consistent, and its recent 23-3 victory over Franklin provided another example of the program’s defensive ability.
Brentwood appeared on every TTS ballot without earning a Top Five vote.
No. 10 — Nolensville (8-0) | 0 Points
Do not overlook the Knights.
Nolensville remains unbeaten following a 31-0 victory over Centennial and has shown an ability to control games on both sides of the football.
Although the Knights received no voting points, three members of the TTS crew included them in their Top 10.
Eight victories without a defeat deserve attention.
The Biggest Storylines From the TTS Voting Room
BGA still has the strongest overall support.
Triple Threat D, Triple Threat Trey and Coach Daniel all ranked the Wildcats first, while JG placed BGA fourth.
That combination produced 17 points and another week at No. 1.
But the race underneath BGA is tightening quickly.
Only two points separate Riverdale, MBA and Brentwood Academy.
Riverdale sits at 12.
MBA has 11.
Brentwood Academy has 10.
One major performance — or one major loss — could completely change that order next week.
Then there is Antioch.
No team created a wider disagreement among the voters.
Triple Threat Trey believes the undefeated Bears belong at No. 2.
Triple Threat D has them at No. 8.
That six-position difference reflects the biggest philosophical debate in this week’s rankings:
How should an unbeaten record be weighed against strength of schedule?
Lipscomb Academy is another team with something to prove.
The Mustangs have faced quality competition and collected important victories, yet they remain outside the official Top Five.
And then there is one final reminder built directly into the TTS system:
Simply appearing on everybody’s Top 10 ballot is not enough.
Top Five votes are what generate points.
Final Word: The Postseason Will Settle the Arguments
The Triple Threat Sportscast Wednesday Rankings are not simply about wins and losses.
They are about evaluating competition.
Examining performance.
Recognizing quality victories.
Accounting for difficult schedules.
And determining which programs have demonstrated that they belong among Middle Tennessee’s elite.
Right now, BGA owns the crown.
Riverdale is making its push.
MBA believes it belongs at the top.
Brentwood Academy is coming off a statement victory.
Antioch refuses to lose.
And Lipscomb Academy is waiting for another opportunity to force its way into the conversation.
But perhaps the biggest lesson from Week 8 is that the margin separating these teams is getting smaller.
As the postseason approaches, rankings and reputations will eventually give way to results on the football field.
Until then, the debate continues.
Who is ranked too high?
Who is being overlooked?
And which Middle Tennessee program would you trust in a winner-take-all game?
