CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Baylor School keeps giving the national high school football audience a reason to pay attention.
The Red Raiders defeated Legacy School of Sport Sciences of Texas 41–14 on October 16, improving to 8–0 as the regular season approaches its finish.
Baylor Builds on Its National Expectations
The expectations were substantial before the first kickoff. MaxPreps placed Baylor No. 12 in its editorial preseason national Top 25, published July 13. Eight wins later, the Red Raiders are building a résumé to go with the recruiting attention.
Erik Kimrey Brings Championship Experience
Head coach Erik Kimrey leads the program. Before arriving at Baylor, he guided Hammond School in South Carolina to 12 state titles. Now, his Red Raiders are working to carry an unbeaten season through their remaining road games and into the postseason.
David Gabriel Georges Leads the Spotlight
At the center of the attention is David Gabriel Georges.
The 2027 running back, known as DGG, is a five-star prospect in 247Sports’ individual ratings and a Tennessee commitment.
Volunteer fans have a reason to follow him before he reaches Knoxville. For the wider high school audience, his talent and the unbeaten team around him make Baylor a program worth watching.
For me, there is a personal connection to his rise. I watched DGG against Christ Presbyterian Academy last season, when he rushed for more than 130 yards and three touchdowns in Baylor’s 48–7 win.
What really caught my eye was how he took over that game—including hurdling a defender. He was making those eye-catching plays long before this season. That night stayed with me, and watching him continue to elevate his game is one of the best parts of covering high school football here in Tennessee.
But appreciating DGG also means recognizing the talent around him.
Keegan Croucher and “Cornbread” Adams Add to the Talent
Quarterback Keegan Croucher, a four-star prospect in 247Sports’ individual ratings and an Ole Miss commitment in the 2027 class, gives Baylor another nationally recruited leader on offense.
Then there is Antwaun “Cornbread” Adams. The 2028 receiver and defensive back is a four-star prospect according to 247Sports’ own evaluation. His receiving contributions earned an October 15 feature in the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
Adams adds another player to follow in Baylor’s passing game while contributing on defense, too.
The Players in the Trenches Deserve Recognition
The recognition belongs up front as well. Cash Freeman, a 2027 interior offensive lineman committed to East Carolina, is part of the group working in front of Baylor’s featured playmakers. Prep Redzone identified him among the program’s leading offensive linemen entering the season.
When we talk about a running back like DGG, the players doing the work before he reaches an opening deserve their share of the spotlight.
On the defensive front, Hans Emery Julien, listed as Emery Julien on Baylor’s roster, brings another college connection. The 2027 edge defender is committed to Tulane and was included among CityScope’s area players to watch for 2026.
A Talent Factory With Tennessee Roots
Looking at this roster, Baylor feels like a college program already. That is the impression the concentration of talent leaves on me: national recruiting attention, commitments stretching across multiple college programs and more names emerging around the established stars.
It is the kind of team that makes you call Baylor a talent factory. DGG draws the spotlight, but Croucher, Adams, Freeman and Julien show how much more there is to follow.
For Triple Threat Sportscast, that is what makes this story hit home—we are watching Tennessee high school players build their futures while competing for something together right now.
Ensworth Is Next
The results give that talent a foundation. Baylor’s October résumé includes a 49–7 victory over Chattanooga rival McCallie on October 2, followed by the win over Legacy.
Now the road brings the Red Raiders to Middle Tennessee. Baylor visits Ensworth in Nashville on October 23, then travels to Knoxville Catholic on October 30 to finish the scheduled regular season.
Could Baylor and Brentwood Academy Meet Again?
Beyond those games, another question adds intrigue: could Baylor and Brentwood Academy meet again with a state championship on the line?
Baylor won their 2025 Division II-AAA championship matchup 28–24 and took this season’s opener 38–20. Another title-game meeting would complete a three-game storyline stretching from last year’s championship through this year’s opener to a potential postseason finale.
That next chapter still has to be earned. The bracket would have to put the teams on paths that meet in the final, and both would have to advance. For a Tennessee audience familiar with these programs, the possibility adds another reason to watch the closing stretch.
The Final Word
With DGG leading a roster full of talent and an unbeaten record heading into the final two regular-season games, does Baylor deserve to climb higher among the nation’s best high school teams?
